Western Native Voice is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new, self-paced online volunteer training program—a major step forward in preparing our volunteer network to empower Native communities through civic engagement.
Delivered through the MyQuest learning platform, this online module makes it easier than ever for volunteers to get the training they need—on their own time and from their computer or smart phone. In past years, coordinating in-person sessions with limited staff and resources created major challenges. Now, with this new platform, every registered volunteer will have access to consistent, in-depth training—just in time for the busy election season.
The course includes four interactive levels designed to build confidence and knowledge. Some of the topics include:
- The history of the Native Vote
- How to register voters in Montana
- Key Montana voting laws and voting rights
- Volunteer safety and respectful engagement practices
The module is full of practical tools, including links to the Montana Voter Portal, videos, and downloadable resources.
“This is a great tool—especially with recent staff cutbacks—as it eliminates the need for travel, facility bookings, and in-person coordination,” said Tracie Garfield, Communications Director at Western Native Voice. “We’re always here to support them, and we believe this new training will be a game-changer in building a stronger, more connected volunteer network.”
This is the second training module Western Native Voice has launched. Earlier this year, they offered a members-only intensive training on the Montana legislative process. Members who completed that training were invited to the Montana State Capitol for an in-person experience and tour. The legislative training is still available by request—just email info@westernnativevoice.org for access.
Looking ahead, Western Native Voice plans to release additional training modules on civic engagement, leadership development, and civic education, some geared toward youth. If all goes according to plan, the new Volunteer Training Module will be emailed to registered volunteers this month.
Western Native Voice is so thankful for all the interactions and participation received from members and volunteers. If you are not yet a member or volunteer, you can go to westernnativevoice.org and sign up.
We would love to have you join our family of movers and shakers! ♦
