BILLINGS, Mont. — In June, Western Native Voice’s Expanding Horizons Youth Summer Academy brought high school students from across Montana together at Lockwood High School for a week of connection, leadership, and cultural learning.
Social skills thrive in camp settings like these. Nationwide, 76% of campers report learning something new and improving their social skills such as communication and teamwork (pjcc.org). That growth showed at our camp too—teens formed lasting friendships, learned to collaborate across cultures, and gained confidence in community settings.
Expanding Horizons reflects Western Native Voice’s mission: empower young Native leaders to build skills, find their voices, and create a stronger, connected future together.
